Hey Everyone,
Here is a small quilt with big presence and amazing color. It was so much fun to quilt. I had planned on quilting the basket weave freehand. I chalked my marks out and started quilting. Much to my disappointment, it looked terrible. I wanted it to be perfect and had to go to plan B. I started shopping for a wave template and finally had one made. I like it so much better. Ardyce supplied the Quilters Dream Request Batt and I added 1/2 thickness of Quilters Dream Wool, also So-Fine thread.
Thanks for looking,
K

Kathy's Judy Niemeyer Bali Bedrunner
Hey Quilt Lovers,
Hope all are well and enjoying this wonderful time of year, IMHO. I just love the fall and the upcoming holiday season. Here is a quilt I quilted up a short while ago. I really prefer simple piecing but definately see something of JN's in my future. Love her work! Kathy did a great job with the fabric choices and the piecing. Here goes..............
That's it for today. Happy Quilting!

Two more Orientals
Hi Quilters,
Here we are in Fall. I love the fall but I am just not ready to let go of summer yet. Summer here in the Northeast was just perfect for my taste. We had maybe a handful of days over 90 and minimal humidity. Anyway, I don't think your here for an overview of our weather. Here are a couple more customer Oriental quilts to check out. Alas, I can't remember the names. Sorry about that. They are both done with QD Request Poly that was supplied to me
I quilted the green area to, what in my mind, would resemble a screen or window, looking out on to a scene. The scene I outlined, and on the border I added half feathers that remind me of butterfly wings referring back to the scene outside the window.

Here I outlined the big beautiful bouquet of flowers, outlined the border, then just had fun with the background.

Stay tuned for another oriental. Happy quilting everyone. K

Oriental Wallhanging
Hey Folks,
I think it is high time for another quilt. This is a customer quilt. I did a Baptist fan in monofilament thread, as I was going for texture only. My inspiration for the fans came from the gold area at the bottom of the fabric. This is the 1st time I've done Baptist fans. I used my circle templates which worked out just fine but was terribly time consuming. Before I finished the quilt, I ordered a new gadget to make them a lot easier for future projects. I haven't tried it yet but it has to be easier then using the circles. Enough said, here are some pics.
Hope your enjoying your holiday weekend.

Pink and Grey Basket Quilt
Hey quilt lovers,
This is a quilt I made this winter and still haven't finished binding yet! The handles are appliqued. The directions said to cut on the bias and bend around but there was no way they were going to lay flat. I ended up using the freezer paper method and found it much better. I used Quilters Dream Wool batting and Superior So-Fine thread.
Hope you enjoyed the pics.
Happy Quilting,

Blue and White Flashing Minnows Quilt
Hi Everyone,
Here it is, finally finished! Wow, this quilt was in the making for quite a long time. I started it in June of 2010. It was to be a wedding present for a August 2010 wedding, LOL. What was I thinking. Granted, when I realized it was not going to be in time, I only worked on it on and off. But still, my sense of time is seriously off.
Anyway, this is a pattern I've wanted to make for quite some time. My original thought was red and white but when I think of a wedding quilt, unless I know the people's colors, I always think blue and white. I tried to quilt the quilt according to the name of the quilt. The feather wreaths are in a swirl, like a beautiful piece of seaweed floating in the water with echoing around it like ripples. The diamonds are crosshatched like a net and the blue stars are done with pebbles or as I began to refer to them, bubbles. There were days when I couldn't face another star. They seemed to take forever. I made myself finish the stars over the holidays. I was determined not to unload the quilt until it was finished. It was awesome to get it done.
I used Quilters Dream Batting and Superior's So-Fine and Bottom Line Thread in blue and white, and it measures 94x97.
Enough talking, here's the quilt.

And last but certainly not least, here is a mini.

Thanks for looking and happy quilting.
